Glacier – A library of light
Next to the new Kvillebäcken district on Hisingen in central Gothenburg, Glaciären is an innovative office building with a glass facade that changes color according to the strength of the sunlight.
The library section uses the prioGRID 70-50 system with a 600×1200 mm module from Caleidoscope. The functional ceiling prioGRID 70-50 is based on the patented fixPOiNT system, but has been scaled down to an elegant, light and functional ceiling with profile dimensions W70xH50 mm.
As general lighting, prioBEAM LED opal luminaires are used. The luminaires were mounted on 3-phase rails along the glass sections in the room and as recessed luminaires in the prioGRID functional ceiling.
When you walk around the library you are struck by the balance between exterior and interior light. The entire library has a soft, pleasant contrast range and the choice of materials harmonizes with the lighting. You are invited to fall back into one of the fine pieces of furniture, but the window seats seem to be the most popular.
The luminaires balance the incoming outdoor light well and create a good reading environment.
